The Compatibility tests.
They are setting up the polarized filters on the light table
to look at the test pieces. |

Bits of each colour are fused to
clear in the kiln so that the stress can be viewed. The theory
is that if each colour is compatible with the clear, they will
be compatible with each other. Most of us only know there is
stress when the bead cracks. |
Here is the test chip with a filter
under and over the chip. The filters are turned to the darkest
point and stress will show up as a bright halo around the colour
- this one is very bad. |
