Beer & Beadz – January 2014

January’s B&B may go down as the largest gathering at a Beer & Beads event.  It was hosted by Joanne Andrighetti at the Terminal City Glass Co-op and attended by 30 people.  There was a good mix of members from both the Pacific Pyros and TCGC members.

The theme for this event was Big Hole Bead lining and we watched demos on three different bead lining machines.

Christmas B&B

Although it had to be rescheduled due to bad weather until January 3, 2014 , Kerry’s B&B Christmas party was a big hit! I missed the actual head count but I think it was something like 15 attendees.

As usual the gift exchange was a pick and steal with any one gift being stolen a maximum of twice.  The big hits were Rosa’s fused plate and a wire wrapped beaded necklace that finally ended up back in Rosa’s possession.

For those of you who weren’t there Rosa is from Vancouver Island and while on her way to hit the glass houses in Seattle she joined us for our B&B.  If there was a prize for opening the most gifts she was the winner as she opened great gift after great gift and had them all stolen shortly after opening each one.

Beer & Beadz – October 2013

October’s B&B was hosted by Suzanne Basnett.  It was a good turn out.  Suzanne opened her warm cozy studio to us where several members got a chance to play with her Scorpion torch.  Suzanne plays with Boro glass!  She also likes to fuse glass and has a large kiln exclusively for this in her studio.

thanks for hosting Suzanne.

Sorry for my bad pictures.  I need a lesson on iphone photography 🙂

Beer & Beadz – August 2013

August 3, 2013, Steve Kristensen’s studio, Chilliwack, BC

While I wasn’t able to attend Steve’s B&B, it sounds like it was well attended and his studio has been described as everyone’s dream.

As most of you know Steve is also a tool maker and has oodles available.  If you’re looking for those great big hole mandrels, contact Steve.

Beer & Beadz – July 2013

July 11, 2013, Elizabeth Owre’s garden studio, Vancouver, BC

A great get together at Elizabeth’s garden studio.  We enjoyed snacks of fresh fruit and baked goods.  Melanie brought some glass left over from the last Whistler event so we drew names for it.

Elizabeth demo’d her hollow beads and Melanie finished the demo with how to use a reactive purple frit by TAG.  Debbie demo’d a large dotted and dragged disk.

Beer & Beadz – June 2013

June 22, 2013, Leslie Fords studio, Squamish, BC

Once again, Leslie was an excellent host.   The munchies were great and her glass stash is unbelieveable!

Only a couple of us made it out this time unfortunately but we still had a great time!  We started off watching a DVD on silver fuming, very interesting.  A couple of us sat down to the torch and made a few beads but only 1 made it to the kiln.

… until next time!
