October’s Beer & Beadz was hosted by Kirsten and once again we had another stellar turnout! It’s great to see so many people turn out to these events and so many that come in from Chilliwack, quite the commute!
The theme was a continuation of the previous months theme. In September Elisabeth challenged us to plan our designs and work with lots of color. The inspiration was Desigual with all it’s great colorful patterns.
Several members paired up at that time to design their beads on paper and then follow their pattern when they made the beads.
While this was a tough challenge, it was also very inspiring for several members. Melanie brought out her collection of fused glass she was inspired to make. Unfortunately I didn’t get a closeup of her stuff but take my word for it .. it was awesome!
This B&B was also an opportunity to show off our new banner for Bling! as well as hand out posters and postcards for our advertising campaign. I think they turned out great!
Our Annual General Meeting was hosted by Debbie Armstrong during our March Beer N Beadz event.
We discussed the past years events like the continually growing attendance to our monthly Beer N Beadz. It’s not unusual now to see 10 – 15 members at these events. In 2015 we also have seen our membership increase by 13 new members. The success and future of Bling – Wearable Art Show & Sale was a hot topic and finally the nominations for our new 2016 Executive.

for the 2nd annual
Bling! Wearable Art Sale
Our first annual “wearable glass art” show and sale was held at the Tabula Rasa Studio beside the Terminal City Glass Co-op. The show was open from noon – 6 pm and the space looked and felt great with 18 glass artists participating. We had coffee, cake and cookies along with hourly gift draws of donations from the participating artists.
The beadmaking demos by Janice Blair, Melanie Graham, Diane Thompson and Melanie Rowe had customers mesmerized for hours.
While we only had a budget for minimal advertising, we did manage to bring in 100+ customers. Thank you to everyone for passing the word. In 2016 this event will be at a different time and venue and more artists will be able to participate. More details to follow later ….
Thanks to all who participated and to the customers who came in to support our first annual event.
