Beer & Beadz – May 2014

May’s B&B was held at Sunlight Art Glass studio where Tamara did a fused glass murrini demo.

The murrini was created by loading up a coated fireproof mold with glass rods such as stringer, small diameter rods and twisties and then heated up to melting point in the kiln.

The result is a mosaic style glass rod that was then cut into thin chips.  These chips were then added to a hot bead and melted in.

This technique not only offers a great design element but is also a great way to use up those rod ends (or shorts) piling up in your studio.

Beer & Beadz – November 2013

This months B&B was hosted at Sunlight Art Glass.  They tested new CiM colours, and there was a demonstration on making stripped murrinis and shards.

The meeting finished with ‘shopping’ for some of the new CiM colours!
