January’s Beer & Beadz was hosted by Susan Otto-Bain at her studio aka the Tiki Hut. The attendance was great, I think I counted 19 people, and with everyone bringing something to share, the food was delicious.
It was a beach theme with the members being challenged to show our beach inspired beads. I really enjoyed this challenge as it got me to use glass I hadn’t touched in a long time.
Susan demonstrated pulling goldstone stringer from chunks of goldstone. A very good demo for those of us not used to making our own stringer.
After her demo we all oohed & ahhed over the clever new addition to her studio. Susan has attached magnetic knife holders to her wall and mounts her tweezers and marvers to it. A great space saver and it looks good too!
We closed the evening with a “guess what’s new in the Tiki Hut” challenge. This challenge was tough! There is so much to see in the Tiki Hut. Sylvia definitely has an eye for detail! This was followed by our bead exchange.
