Beer & Beadz – May 2014
May’s B&B was held at Sunlight Art Glass studio where Tamara did a fused glass murrini demo.
The murrini was created by loading up a coated fireproof mold with glass rods such as stringer, small diameter rods and twisties and then heated up to melting point in the kiln.
The result is a mosaic style glass rod that was then cut into thin chips. These chips were then added to a hot bead and melted in.
This technique not only offers a great design element but is also a great way to use up those rod ends (or shorts) piling up in your studio.
