Beads by the Bay at Crescent Beach
What a lovely way to spend part of our summer! From June 26 to July 19, ten Pacific Pyros members set up shop in the Crescent Beach Community Gallery, right by the water, displaying our glass beads, jewelry, and glasswork throughout the month.
It was a wonderful experience, and a real treat to show visitors just some of the amazing things you can do with glass. The weather cooperated most days, and even the cloudy and rainy ones didn’t slow things down much. We had steady walk-by traffic all month, with a lovely mix of locals and curious visitors stopping in, and on occasion a whole busload wandered through.
With ten members displaying in this cozy little gallery, it never felt too small. We covered tabletops and walls with home decor pieces and statement jewelry, giving the space a warm and welcoming feel. Sales were good, too, and it was always fun to see what caught visitors’ eyes, one week a certain piece would fly off the shelf, and the next week something entirely different would tickle their fancy. We all took turns staffing the gallery, and the whole thing ran like a well-oiled machine from set-up to take-down.

Lampwork by the Beach
Rather than a formal opening party, we chose July 1st to bring the art of lampwork outdoors, setting up a glasswork station just outside the gallery. With Canada Day drawing crowds to the beach, it was the perfect chance for even more Pyros to gather and do what we do best: make glass beads.
Passersby stopped to watch the flame in action, fascinated to see how a rod of glass becomes a finished bead. The demonstrations drew a great crowd, and more than a few visitors were inspired to step inside and take home something special.

Looking Ahead
Beads by the Bay was a wonderful way to share our work, meet new people, and bring a little extra colour to the Crescent Beach community. Events like this give us a chance to step outside the studio, connect with visitors, and celebrate the creativity within our group. We’re looking forward to more opportunities like this one in the future.
