Guidelines for Great Beer & Beads Meetings

Each meeting will have a host and a moderator.  The host is the person you came to see and learn from.  The moderator will help keep the conversation going, curtail tangents, and help us finish on time.  The moderator will identify themself at the start of the meeting, handle introductions, and then hand the meeting over to the host.

Some meetings will be video recorded for the benefit  members who can’t attend.  If you prefer not to be recorded please turn off your video and change your screen name to something other than your real name.  The moderator will announce the start of recording so you have time to do this you wish.

Plan to join the meeting five minutes early. That way, if something glitches in your tech setup, you can fix it and still be in the meeting on time.

When you enter the meeting:
  • Keep your microphone muted.
  • Turn on your video.
  • Check your screen name (click on the three dots in the top right corner of your image) and adjust as necessary.
During the meeting, share the airspace. Try to avoid talking over/at the same time as other participants; it garbles the audio feed and everyone gets confused.
In addition to speaking, there are three non-verbal ways to participate:
  • Use the Raise Hand button (in Reactions, at the bottom of your screen) to let the host or moderator know you would like to speak.
  • Use the Reactions buttons to show how you feel about what someone else has said.
  • Use the Chat box (button at the bottom of your screen) to write a comment.
Important: Raise Hand and Reactions can only be seen if your video is turned on.
