Interview with Tammy Mercier

Hi! My name is Tammy and I’m a lampwork glass addict. What started out as a class to learn how to make organic lentils for my jewelry designs quickly turned into a full-blown passion.

Q: How long have you worked in glass?
A: 6 years.

Q: Inspiration: What or who inspires you?
A: Mother Nature inspires me, along with watching other glass artists effortlessly create their magic.

Q: Visual Voice: Why do you create your designs?
A: Ever since I can remember, I’ve surrounded myself with wildlife and nature art. That love naturally flows into what I create in glass.

Q: Upcoming shows or sales you’d like to share?
A: If Bling 2021 runs in the fall, I’ll be there. Or if Trudy coordinates something, I’m in 😊

Q: What is in your artistic future?
A: More of my beloved animals in vibrant colour, and learning how to create more complex beads, like implosion beads with flowers inside.

Q: What are your goals moving forward?
A: Consistent time at the torch. My ultimate goal is versatility and variety.

The most enjoyable part of working with glass is getting “in the zone” and simply enjoying the process of melted glass and wherever it takes you.
