Q: How long have you been working with glass?

A: I have enjoyed several art mediums over the years, then I was invited to participate in a glass bead making class…I fell in love. That was 19 years ago.

Q: Inspiration: What or who inspires you?

A: I’m inspired by the world around me, other artists, my environment…I see new colour combinations and designs all around me. Just writing about it inspires me to turn on the torch and begin the creative process. I love the work of Elena Hernberg, odki on Instagram, Heather Trimlet, Kristina Logan, our very own Rowe sisters and many other wonderful artists, including the tremendously talented artists in our Pyros.

Q: Visual Voice: Express why you create your designs

A:  I love the creative process and designing objects that bring pleasure to collectors. It’s exciting to engage with people who fall in love with a certain piece that touches them and listen to them express why it touches them.

Q: What are your goals moving forward?

A: I’m looking forward to getting into my studio and developing some new designs! This summer was too hot to turn on the torch. I’ll continue working on my online presence and hopefully there will be markets available for everyone next year. I have purchased some tutorials and look forward to seeing them and implementing some new skills.

Q: Upcoming shows or sales if you want to share.

A: Unfortunately my upcoming shows were cancelled again this year. I may open my studio to guests who would like to come watch a demo and shop local.

Q: What is in your artistic future?

A: I’ve been enjoying marketing beads to designers this year. I’ll continue that direction. I love seeing what others create with my beads! Of course I’ll make beads for pleasure and my own designs. I would like to have my work represented by more retail outlets and galleries, collaborative shows and I’ll keep my eyes open for opportunities to share my love of glass.
